Diwali - 24 Oct

 Diwali is an Indian festival that Hindus all over the world celebrate. Diwali is also known as the festival of lights. It is celebrated in Northern India to remember the day in which Lord Rama returned to his kingdom in Ayodhya, after defeating the demon king Ravan. In Southern India it is celebrated as Lord Krishna defeating the demon Narakasura. 
 
 In this year it is celebrated on 24th October.

Diwali is celebrated in 5 days. These days for this year are - 

  • Day 1: Dhanteras - October 22.
  • Day 2: Chhoti Diwali — October 23.
  • Day 3: Diwali — October 24.
  • Day 4: Govardhan Puja — October 25.
  • Day 5: Bhai Dooj -October 26.
On Diwali, it is a tradition to light firecrackers, chakra, rockets etc. On the day of Diwali we decorate our homes with lights and Rangoli. Rangoli is any art made with flowers, powder, etc.
