JK Rowling
Joanne Rowling was born on July 31, 1965. Rowling was what you would call a bookworm. As a kid, Rowling always dreamed of becoming an author. She wrote her first book titled “Rabbit” at the age of 6. When she turned 11, she wrote her first novel about seven cursed diamonds. It was a strange coincidence that J.K. Rowling studied French at the University of Exeter, as Paris is one of her favourite places to pass time.
One day, on a delayed train from Manchester to London’s Kings Cross, she imagined a huge, rambling, quite scary-looking castle, with a jumble of towers and battlements that taught young students the wonder of magic. She decided to name the series “Harry Potter”. Over the course of 5 years, she mapped out and planned the 7 books of the series. Before she could publish the first book her publisher told her to change her name to J.K Rowling as he thought that young boys would not read a book written by a girl. “Harry Potter” is now a bestselling book series with over 500 million fans. The fans love the series so much that they have even created a website that includes many easter eggs, quizzes and everything else related to Harry Potter.
She married Jorge Arantes in 1992. She is also a philanthropist. In 2008, she was titled the world’s highest paid author. All of the books of the Harry Potter series have been turned into movies. She has written many other books such as the Christmas Pig, The Cuckoo's Calling, Career of Evil and the Casual Vacancy. In 2015, J.K Rowling partnered with John Tiffany and Jack Thorne to write the unofficial 8th book of the Harry Potter series. It was titled “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”.
J.K Rowling is still one of the most loved authors in the world. Her books for kids as well as adults have always been a hit. Even at the age of 58, Rowling still loves to read and write. Rowling always finds different ways to entertain her audience to the point where important items from her books were recreated on a large scale such as the Hogwarts castle in Universal Studios Hollywood. She shows the fans her love in her beautiful literature and her fans return the love in their own way.
